Yuvraj Khatri shines with a fifer as Nepal dominates Oman
Nepal have registered their second win in the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Asia
Qualifiers after a dominant eight-wicket win over Oman on Monday at the Upper Mulpani
International Cricket Ground.
After winning the toss, captain Naren Bhatta invited Oman to bat first. Oman could only
manage 117 on the board, which was easily chased by Nepal in the 15th over losing just
two wickets.
Oman batters had a day to forget with the bat as only three players reached double
figures. Jeet Vragesh Shah top-scored with 52 off 78, which included six boundaries,
followed by Siddharth Shankar (16) and Prathiesh Ramesh (10).
Yuvraj Khatri was the top contributor in dismantling Oman’s batting lineup, returning
figures of 8-2-15-5, earning him Player of the Match. Santosh Yadav added two wickets,
while Dayanand Mandal, Aprajit Poudel, and Ashok Dhami picked up a wicket each.
Nepal went blazing in the chase with an 85-run opening partnership in the powerplay
between Sahil Patel (44 off 42) and Niraj Yadav (46 off 31). With the job half done by the
openers, Nepal chased down 118 in 14.3 overs to register their second win in the
competition.
Samuya Sampat was the only wicket-taker for Oman, picking up two wickets while
conceding 31 runs from six overs.
Nepal will next face Hong Kong after a day’s gap on Wednesday at the Lower Mulpani
International Cricket Ground.
