Three Nepali players drafted in Lanka Premier League
Three Nepali players have been drafted into the upcoming Lanka Premier League following the draft held on Monday. The tournament will be played from July 17 to August 8 across Colombo, Kandy and Dambulla.
Sandeep Lamichhane and Dipendra Singh Airee were picked by three-time champions Jaffna Kings. Lamichhane was selected for US$20,000 under the Classic category, while Airee was picked for US$15,000 under the Associate Stars category.
Meanwhile, Kushal Bhurtel earned his first overseas league draft selection just a day after his explosive 35-ball century and six sixes in an over against China in the Asian Games Qualifier.
Bhurtel was picked by Colombo Kings for US$15,000 under the Associate Stars category.
However, the participation of the Nepali players remains uncertain, with Nepal scheduled to play a crucial Cricket World Cup League 2 series against Netherlands and Namibia during the same period.
