Nepal were crowned champions of the Asian Games Qualifier after securing a 19-run DLS victory over Hong Kong China in the final on Monday in Singapore.

Nepal, Hong Kong China, Oman and Malaysia have all secured qualification for the Asian Games, which will be held in Japan from September 24 to October 3.

After electing to field first, Nepal restricted Hong Kong China to 188/7 in their 20 overs. The innings was led by Anshuman Rath, who top-scored with 80 off 45 deliveries, striking six sixes and six boundaries.

Sahid Wasif provided late acceleration with 55 off 28 balls, including seven fours and three sixes, helping Hong Kong China post a challenging total.

For Nepal, Sher Malla starred with the ball, claiming 4/32 from his four overs. Karan KC picked up 2/45, while Sandeep Lamichhane returned 1/46.

In reply, Kushal Bhurtel continued his remarkable run of form with 65 off 40 deliveries, hitting eight fours and three sixes. During the innings, he became the Nepali batter with the most T20I sixes in a calendar year, surpassing Kushal Malla's tally of 34 set in 2023.

Captain Rohit Paudel remained unbeaten on 35 off 24 balls, striking three boundaries and a six.

Nepal were 114/2 in 11.3 overs when rain interrupted play, with the hosts ahead on the DLS par score. The match was subsequently called off, handing Nepal a 19-run victory and the Asian Games Qualifier title.
