Spinners lead Australia to comfortable win in T20I opener against Bangladesh

Australia bounced back from their ODI series defeat to Bangladesh with a four-wicket victory in the opening T20I, thanks to a dominant spin display led by Adam Zampa and debutant Joel Davies.

Nine of Bangladesh's ten wickets fell to spin as Zampa and Davies claimed three wickets each, while Matt Renshaw chipped in with two wickets and fellow debutant Nikhil Choudary added one.

Bangladesh were bowled out for 131 in 19 overs, with Mahedi Hasan top-scoring with an unbeaten 29. Stand-in captain Towhid Hridoy briefly threatened with a first-ball six after arriving at the crease, but he was bowled by Zampa as the hosts slipped from 57-3 into deeper trouble.

Australia's chase also had a shaky start as captain Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis departed inside the PowerPlay.

However, Cooper Connolly continued his impressive tour with a brisk 47 off 27 balls and shared a 40-run stand with Tim David.

Bangladesh debutant Abdul Gaffar Saqlain struck twice to keep the contest alive, but contributions from Choudary and Davies ensured Australia reached the target with 10 balls to spare.
