USA defeat Scotland, return to top of CWC League 2 standings

The United States climbed back to the top of the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 standings after securing a six-wicket victory over Scotland on Wednesday. 

Chasing a target of 170, the USA reached 170/4 in just 27.1 overs. Smit Patel and Shayan Jahangir both scored 37, while Saiteja Mukkamalla added 35. Milind Kumar remained unbeaten on 24 to guide the chase home. 

For Scotland, Jack Jarvis, Oliver Davidson and Michael Leask picked up one wicket each.

Earlier, after opting to bat first, Scotland were bowled out for 169 in 43.3 overs. Mark Watt top-scored with 66, becoming the last batter dismissed. 

Despite a promising start, Scotland lost momentum in the middle overs, with Brandon McMullen scoring 32, Matthew Cross making 20, and Finlay McCreath contributing 19. 

For the USA, Rushil Ugarkar starred with the ball, taking 4 for 48, while Saurabh Netravalkar claimed three wickets. Shubham Ranjane took two, and Harmeet Singh added one. 

The win gives the USA 38 points from 27 matches, moving them above Scotland, who also have 38 points from 32 matches but a fewer NRR. 

USA will next face Nepal on Friday, the last match of ongoing League 2 series.
