IPL-winning Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Tim David has been banned for the first match of IPL 2027.

David has been handed a one-match suspension and fined after allegedly throwing an ice bag aggressively toward the umpire during the IPL 2026 final against the Gujarat Titans.

As this was David's third Level 1 Code of Conduct breach this season, he was fined 50% of his match fee and given two demerit points.

With his total demerit points reaching five over the past 36 months, he has automatically received a one-match suspension.

The incident occurred during the 10th over of Gujarat's innings. After an appeal for a catch off Washington Sundar's delivery to dismiss Jordan Cox was turned down by the umpire, David reportedly threw an ice bag.

David admitted to breaching Article 2.9 of the IPL Code of Conduct. The article prohibits players from throwing a ball or any other cricket equipment in an inappropriate or dangerous manner toward players, team officials, umpires, match referees, or any other person during a match.

Earlier in the season, David had also committed Code of Conduct violations in two matches against the Mumbai Indians, for which he received one and two demerit points respectively.

David played an important role in RCB's title-winning campaign in IPL 2026. He scored 305 runs in 16 matches, averaging 33.88 with a strike rate of 188.27.
