Sloppy batting costs Nepal away series win

Nepal collapsed to 85 runs to hand Papua New Guinea the Hong Kong Men’s Twenty20 Tri-Series at Mission Road Ground on Wednesday. PNG beat Nepal by 86 runs in the final.

PNG posted 171-8 in 20 overs after being put in to bat first. Collective bowling efforts helped PNG flatten Nepal to 85 runs in 16.3 overs.

Nepal only managed to add two fifteen-plus partnerships in the innings. A 16-run stand for the third wicket between Rohit Kumar Paudel (12) and Gulshan Jha (six) and 27 runs between Aarif Sheikh (15) and Sundeep Jora were those little recovery efforts.

Sundeep top-scored with a 13-ball 17 that hitting three boundaries.

Kabua Morea (2-13), Semo Kamea (2-13), Chad Soper (2-15), and Sese Bau (2-10) all picked up two wickets apiece for the winning side.

Earlier, opening batsman Tony Ura led from the top order with his 37-ball 61. His innings included five boundaries and four sixes. Alei Nao’s blistering unbeaten 30 off 10 helped the winning side put up a commendable total. He slammed three sixes and four.

Kushal Bhurtel continued to surprise with his bowling as he picked up three wickets in his four overs, giving only 24 runs. Despite being hammered for 41 runs, Aakash Chand claimed three wickets in his four overs.
