Nepal registered their first win in the ICC Women’s T20I Challenge Trophy with a 50-run victory over Italy in Rwanda on Monday, bowling them out for 62 while defending 112.

Batting first, Nepal once again struggled for fluency. Puja Mahato held the innings together with an unbeaten 48 off 45 balls, including a six and two boundaries, but support was limited. Bindu Rawal made a slow 15 off 26, while Samjhana Khadka (16 off 13) and Indu Barma (10) were the only other batters to reach double figures as Nepal finished on 112 for 8.

For Italy, Emilia Bartram picked up 3 for 21, while Thilini Fernando, Pasindi Kanankege, Ilenia Sims, Alexia Kontopirakis and Kumudi Peddrick took a wicket each.

In reply, Italy collapsed for 62 in 18.4 overs as Rubina Chhetry ran through the batting with a sensational 4 for 4 from 2.4 overs, earning the Player of the Match award.

Kabita Kunwar (2 for 12), Manisha Upadhyay (1 for 6), Riya Sharma (1 for 24) and Rachana Chaudhary (1 for 11) also chipped in as Nepal sealed a comfortable win.

Only Thilini Fernando (22) and Pasindi Kanankege (12) crossed double figures for Italy.

Nepal next face hosts Rwanda on Tuesday.
