RR move to second with dominant over LSG

Rajasthan Royals (RR) secured their fifth victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL), defeating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 40 runs.

With this win, Rajasthan climbed to second place on the points table with 10 points.

Chasing a target of 160 runs, Lucknow were bowled out for 119 in 18 overs. Mitchell Marsh scored a fighting half-century, but it wasn’t enough to take his team across the line.

He top-scored with 55 runs off 41 balls, while Nicholas Pooran added 22 and Himmat Singh contributed 15. No other batter managed to reach double figures.

For Rajasthan, Jofra Archer was the standout performer with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 20 runs in his 4 overs. Nandre Burger and Brijesh Sharma picked up two wickets each, while Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Bishnoi claimed one wicket apiece.

Earlier, Rajasthan Royals, after losing the toss, posted 159 for 6 in their 20 overs. Despite a shaky start, they managed to put up a competitive total.

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 22, Vaibhav Suryavanshi made 8, and Dhruv Jurel was dismissed for a duck, leaving Rajasthan at 32 for 3.

Captain Riyan Parag scored 20, while Shimron Hetmyer added 22. Ravindra Jadeja provided a strong finish, remaining unbeaten on 43, including 20 runs in the final over.

Donovan Ferreira scored 20, and Shubham Dubey contributed 19. For Lucknow, Mohammed Shami, Prince Yadav, and Mohsin Khan took two wickets each.

Rajasthan now have 10 points from 7 matches (5 wins), while Punjab Kings remain at the top with 11 points despite playing one game less.

Lucknow Super Giants, on the other hand, are placed ninth with just 4 points from 7 matches.
