Pokhara Avengers wicketkeeper-batter Adam Rossington produced a stunning century to power his side to a crucial victory over Karnali Yaks, a result that effectively ended Karnali’s playoff hopes in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) 2025.

Rossington smashed a magnificent unbeaten 108 off 58 balls, bringing up his century in just 55 deliveries. His knock included 11 fours and 7 sixes, anchoring Pokhara to their first 200-plus total of the season.

With Rossington leading the charge, Pokhara posted a commanding score that their bowlers defended with ease, securing a 34-run victory.

The Avengers have now become only the second team this season, after Biratnagar Kings to score more than 200 in an innings.

Rossington opened with captain Kushal Bhurtel, adding 34 for the first wicket before making a brilliant stand with World Cup-winning opener Jason Roy, who had arrived in Nepal only a day earlier and made an immediate impact with a fluent 46 off 34 balls.

Once Roy departed, Rossington continued the assault alongside Sri Lankan all-rounder Dhananjaya Lakshan, adding an unbeaten 40 for the third wicket.

Lakshan contributed a quickfire 23 off just 11 balls and later shone with the ball, taking 3 crucial wickets on his NPL debut. Indian all-rounder Rishi Dhawan matched Lakshan’s performance with the ball, also claiming three wickets, including the key scalps of Pawan Sarraf, Najibullah Zadran and captain Sompal Kami.

Their timely breakthroughs dismantled Karnali’s chase, ensuring they were bowled out for 167, and won the match by 34 runs.

Part-time bowlers Kiran Thagunna and Sandeep Khatri chipped in with a wicket each, while captain Bhurtel also completed a full four-over spell, picking up one wicket.

With the win, Pokhara climbed to fourth in the standings with four points from five matches. Their playoff fate remains in their own hands as they prepare to face Kathmandu Gurkhas on Thursday and Chitwan Rhinos on Saturday.

Winning both would give them a realistic shot at progressing. Karnali, having just one win from six matches, will now hope to end tournament on a high.
