Sudurpaschim Province moved to the top of the PM Cup points table with a dominant 163-run win over Bagmati in Janakpur on Sunday, their fifth victory of the campaign.

Opting to bat, Sudurpaschim posted 209, a total that proved more than enough once Hemant Dhami ran through Bagmati with a record-breaking spell.

The innings had been in trouble early. Reduced to 68 for 6, Sudurpaschim were rescued by a 59-run stand between Dipak Bohara and Narayan Joshi. Dipak Bohara made 40, but it was Narayan Joshi who shifted the momentum, striking 75 off 68 balls, including six sixes and two fours, to lift the total past 200.

Bagmati’s bowlers had done well up front. Sandeep Lamichhane led the attack with 4 for 32 from his 10 overs, while Pratish GC matched him with 4 for 26. Sonu Devkota and Rijan Dhakal picked up a wicket each.

In response, Bagmati never settled. Hemant Dhami delivered the best spell in tournament’s history, finishing with 7 for 14 in six overs, including a hat-trick, as the chase collapsed rapidly.

Captain Sher Malla provided perfect support at the other end, taking 3 for 2, as Bagmati were bundled out for just 46 in 11.2 overs.

Subh Kansakar’s 32 was the only score of note in an otherwise one-sided contest.
