RCB win second consecutive IPL title
Playing at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, RCB chased down a target of 156 runs in 18 overs, finishing on 161/5 to secure their second consecutive IPL crown.
Virat Kohli starred with the bat for Bengaluru, remaining unbeaten on 75 off 42 balls, including nine fours and three sixes. Venkatesh Iyer contributed 32 runs in the successful chase.
For Gujarat, Rashid Khan claimed two wickets, while Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada and Arshad Khan picked up one wicket each.
Earlier, after being asked to bat first, Gujarat posted 155/8 in their 20 overs. Washington Sundar top-scored with an unbeaten 50, while Nishant Sindhu made 20 and Jos Buttler added 19.
RCB's bowling attack was led by Rasikh Salam, who took 3 wickets for 27 runs in four overs. Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar claimed two wickets each, while Krunal Pandya chipped in with one.
Bengaluru had also beaten Gujarat in the first qualifier and finished at the top of the league stage standings. RCB won their maiden IPL title last season by defeating Punjab Kings in the final.
With back-to-back championships, they became only the third team in IPL history to defend the title after Chennai Super Kings (2010 and 2011) and Mumbai Indians (2019 and 2020)
