Province 2 hammer Province 4 in U-16 cricket

Province
2 hammered Province 4 by seven wickets in their first Group ‘A’ match of the
Manmohan Memorial Inter Province U-16 National cricket tournament at TU grounds
on Friday.

 

Electing
to bat first, Province 4 were skittled out for just 100 in 28.4 overs after
Nikhil Singh picked up four wickets. Province 2 then chased down the low total
in 13.5 overs losing three wickets.

 

Anit
Baral top scored for Province 4 making 29 off 75 balls hitting two fours while
Ishan Shretha (23 off 28 with four boundaries) was another batsman to reach the
double digits. Nikhil (4-10 from six overs) and Bibek Yadav (3-30) shared seven
wickets between them for Province 2. Byas Yadav also had two scalps and Samsad
Mansuri took one wicket. 

 

Opener
Imran Sheikh starred in Province 2 chase making 33 off 29 with five hits
towards the fence and one six. Trit Raj Das (28 off 23 with six fours) and
Sujit Shah (13 not out from 11 with two boundaries) were other notable
contributers in the first victory of Province 2. 

 

Kiran
Poudel, Sujan Gautam and Prem Tamang had one scalp apiece for Province 4.

 

In
the second match, Province 7 crushed Province 5 by 71 runs. Electing to bat
first, Province 7 made 169-8 in 30 overs and squeezed out Province 5 for just
98 runs in 23.4 overs.

 

To
ease Province 7 to victory, Binod Khatri scored a half century (52) off 37
balls smashinhg three fours and as many sixes. Rajan Singh made 37 off 59 with
three boundaries. Suwash Ayer (20), Rahul Bhandari (13) and Narayan Joshi (12)
also contributed for the team. 

 

Rahul
Kumar Launiya and Nabin Bhattarai took two wickets each for Province 5 and Som
Sharma had one scalp. 

 

Province
5 were once cruising at 46-0 but lost their all wickets in a space of 52 runs.
Kushal Malla topscored with 32 off 23 hitting five boundaries and a six. Bishal
Bikram KC (17) Luniya (12) were other batsmen to reach double digits. 

 

Man-of-the-match,
Narendra Sawad took three wickets and conceded just 14 runs with one maiden in
his six-over spell. Narayan Joshi returned the figures of 3-29 in six overs
while Suwash and Manoj Lothyal took one wicket each for Province 7. 

 

Province
3 will now compete against Province 6 in the first match on Saturday and
Province 4 will play Province 7.
