Police keep final hopes alive with 48-run win over Karnali

Nepal Police Club kept themselves firmly in contention for a place in the PM Cup final with a 48-run win over Karnali Province in Birgunj on Thursday. The result leaves them with 10 points from seven matches, with two games still to play.

Opting to bat, Police put up 261 for 8, built around a solid knock from opener Dinesh Kharel. He made 82 off 100 balls, striking nine fours and a six, bringing up his fourth half-century of the tournament. Contributions from Amit Shrestha (30), Aarif Sheikh (27), Rashid Khan (24), Dilshad Ali (23) and Karan KC (21) ensured the total pushed past 260.

For Karnali, Prakash Jaisi was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 57 from his 10 overs. Dinesh Adhikari and Anuj Chanara picked up two wickets each, while Diwan Pun chipped in with one.

In reply, Karnali were bowled out for 213, falling short despite a few starts. Arjun Gharti top-scored with 46 off 56 balls, including two sixes and two fours, but the innings lacked partnerships.

Lalit Rajbanshi led the way for Police with a five-wicket haul, returning 5 for 36. He was well supported by Karan KC, who picked up 3 for 29, while Aarif Sheikh and Dipak Chand took a wicket each to wrap up the win.
