Nepal's hopes of qualifying for the Women's Asia Cup came to an end after a 56-run defeat to Thailand in the quarterfinals of the ACC Women's Premier Cup in Malaysia on Wednesday.

No other batter reached double figures.Thailand's bowlers kept Nepal in check throughout the innings. Thipatcha Putthawong returned figures of 2-7 from four overs, while Sunida Chaturongrattana and Suleeporn Laomi claimed two wickets each.

Earlier, after winning the toss and opting to bat, Thailand posted 130-4. Nannapat Koncharoenkai anchored the innings with an unbeaten 63 off 51 balls, while Phannita Maya contributed 26 and Chanida Sutthiruang added 16.

For Nepal, Kavita Kunwar, Riya Sharma and Rubina Chhetry picked up one wicket apiece.

The defeat means Nepal missed out on a place in the Women's Asia Cup, having needed to reach the semifinals to secure qualification.

It marks another disappointment for the Nepali side, which also failed to qualify for the Asian Games last week after losing a decisive match against China.
