Nepal outplay Maldives in record flourish match

Nepal created a few historical records after they beat Maldives by 214 runs in their last group stage match of ACC Women’s Premier Cup 2024. They restricted the opponent to 13 runs, which is now the 9th lowest score in the history of the format.

Rubina Chhetry scored the 10th fastest century in the Women’s T20 International history to guide her team home by the highest ever margin in Nepal Women’s short T20 International history. They left behind their previous record by 95 runs. Rubina took 59 balls for her 118 runs hitting 10 fours and 5 sixes.

Nepal recorded their highest ever total in the format with 227 runs, surpassing the previous best score of 164 against Qatar.

The most prolific women’s cricketer of Nepal, Rubina, became the first ever female player from her country to register a century in any format. The previous highest score was from Sita Rana Magar, who scored an unbeaten 82 against Qatar.

Rubina’s unbeaten 166-run stand with Puja Mahato became the highest ever partnership for the landlocked country in the T20 International history. Puja contributed 36-ball 59 comprising 5 fours and a six.

Nepal will face off Kuwait in the quater final of the event on Wednesday (14th February). The finalist of the tournament will be slotted in the ACC Women’s Asia Cup.
