Nepal lose warm-up match to Canada before T20 World Cup
Nepal didn’t get the start they wanted for the T20 World Cup. They lost their first warm-up match against Canada by a big margin, 63 runs.
Nepal decided to field first after winning the toss. Things were going okay until the last three overs. Ravinderpal Singh scored 41 from 17 deliveries, due to which Canada ended up with a high score of 183 runs.
Nepal’s frontline pacers, Abinash Bohara, Sompal Kami, and Karan KC, conceded 55 runs in the last three overs.
Nepal bowlers tried their best, with Abinash Bohara getting 2 wickets along with Sompal Kami, Karan KC, Lalit Rajbanshi, Gulshan Jha, and Sagar Dhakal picking up one wicket each. But they couldn’t stop Canada from scoring a lot in the end.
When it was Nepal’s turn to bat, they weren’t able to chase down the target of 184 runs. Kushal Malla scored the most runs for Nepal with 37, the team only managed 120 runs before all their batters were out.
Dillon Heyliger returned the figures of 2.3-0-20-4, while Canadian captain Saad Bin Zafar and Jeremy Gordon contributed two wickets each to Canada’s win.
This loss is a setback for Nepal before the main tournament. Their next warm-up match is against the USA on May 30th. The USA will be high on confidence after a series win against a full-member nation, Bangladesh.
