Nepal kick off Women’s Premier Cup campaign with dominant win
Nepal began their ACC Women’s Premier Cup campaign with a dominant eight-wicket win over Qatar in Malaysia after chasing down a modest target of 77 runs in 10.5 overs.
Qatar, invited to bat first, collapsed from 60/2 to 76 all out in 16.5 overs after losing their last eight wickets for just 16 runs, including four run-outs.
For Nepal, Rubina Chhetry led the bowling effort with 3/8 from 3.5 overs, while Kabita Kunwar, Riya Sharma and Puja Mahato picked up a wicket each.
In reply, Nepal completed the chase comfortably despite an early setback, with Bindu Rawal scoring 33 off 30 balls with four boundaries and Puja Mahato finishing unbeaten on 28 off 26 balls with four boundaries.
Shahreennawab Khan and Khadija Imitaz picked up a wicket each for Qatar.
Nepal will next face Bhutan in their second group match on Thursday.
