Rain played spoilsport at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier in Thailand as Nepal and Hong Kong-China were forced to share points after their scheduled clash at the Asian Institute of Technology Ground was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Scheduled for an 8:15 AM NPT start, the match could not proceed as overnight rain left the outfield too wet for play.

This no-result means both Nepal and Hong Kong-China have opened their accounts in Group C with one point each. Nepal will next take on Bahrain on Saturday at Terdthai Cricket Ground. The two teams have faced each other twice in Women’s T20Is, with Nepal emerging victorious on both occasions.

Group C of the tournament features Nepal, Hong Kong-China, and Bahrain, with the group stage being played in a double round-robin format. The top teams from the three groups will advance to the playoffs, and the two best teams from the playoffs will secure their spots in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.
