Nepal 'A' stun Oman by 115 runs

Nepal 'A' secured a 115-run win over Oman after a clinical all-round display at the Upper Mulpani Cricket Ground on Friday.

Asked to bat first, Nepal 'A' posted 284 for 7 riding on half-centuries from Dev Khanal, Ishan Pandey and Kushal Malla.

Nepal were rocked early at 40 for 2 after losing openers Arjun Kumal (13) and Anil Sah (7). Arjun, who is part of Nepal’s squad for the CWC League 2 series starting on Saturday, was given an opportunity to open for the 'A' side. He struck two boundaries before edging behind.

Ishan Pandey top-scored with 69 off 78 balls, hitting six boundaries, and added 90 runs with Dev Khanal, who made 64 with five fours.

After Trit Raj Das was bowled for 1 by left-arm spinner Shakeel Ahmed, Sundeep Jora counterattacked with 42 off 26 balls, striking three sixes and three boundaries in a 70-run stand with Ishan.

Kushal Malla, batting at No. 7, then provided the finishing touch. Dropped at long-on on 36, he went on to strike four sixes and four boundaries, adding 64 runs with Santosh Yadav as Nepal crossed 280.

For Oman, Jiten Ramanandi picked up 2 for 39, while Shakeel Ahmad, Nadeem Khan, Siddhartha Bukkapatnam and Wasim Ali claimed a wicket each.

Hemant Dhami and Aakash Chand made early inroads with the new ball for Nepal 'A', removing Oman’s top three inside the powerplay.

Hemant bowled Hammad Mirza through an inside edge and then yorked Hassnail Ali Shah, while opener Prithvu Machhi fell to Aakash Chand for 19, caught by Ishan Pandey at mid-on.

Captain Jatinder Singh, batting at No. 4, made a run-a-ball 17 before losing his stumps to Sher Malla.

Mujibur Ali, the top scorer from the previous match, made 43 and shared a 44-run stand with Jiten Ramanandi, but Nepal triggered a collapse soon after.

Spinners Yuvraj Khatri, Santosh Yadav and Sher Malla ran through the middle and lower order as Oman were bowled out for 169 in 36.3 overs.

Oman lost their last six wickets for 48 runs in the chase.

Legspinner Yuvraj Khatri starred with 3 for 16 from six overs. Hemant Dhami (2 for 35), Aakash Chand (2 for 35) and Sher Malla (2 for 42) shared six wickets, while Santosh Yadav chipped in with one.
