Mosaddek, Nahid star in Bangladesh's famous win over Australia
Returning to the ODI side after four years, Mosaddek Hossain produced a superb all-round display. He top-scored with an unbeaten 86 and later claimed 2-37 with the ball as Bangladesh posted 284-8 and then restricted Australia to 191-9 in 42.2 overs before rain brought an early end.
After being put in to bat, Bangladesh recovered from an early setback through half-centuries from Tanzid Hasan Tamim (54) and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (67).
Mosaddek then accelerated in the latter stages, sharing important partnerships with Towhid Hridoy and Taskin Ahmed to take the hosts close to 300.
Australia's reply got off to a disastrous start as Taskin removed Matthew Short with the first ball of the innings before Mustafizur Rahman trapped Marnus Labuschagne lbw, leaving the visitors at 2-2.
Captain Josh Inglis and Cooper Connolly attempted to rebuild, but express pacer Nahid Rana broke through and went on to finish with 4-41.
Mosaddek chipped in with two wickets, while Cameron Green's unbeaten 52 proved insufficient to revive Australia's chase.
Australia also endured a poor day in the field, dropping four catches, including three chances offered by Mosaddek.
The victory marked Bangladesh's first ODI win over Australia since the famous triumph in Cardiff in 2005 and gave the hosts a 1-0 lead in the series.
