Marsh’s explosive 90 helps Lucknow outclass Chennai
Chasing a target of 188, Lucknow reached 188/3 in just 16.4 overs. After Marsh was dismissed for 90, Nicholas Pooran finished the chase with an unbeaten 32 off 17 balls.
Earlier, Josh Inglis scored 36, sharing a crucial 135-run opening partnership with Marsh in just 11.4 overs, which laid the foundation for the victory.
For Chennai, Mukesh Choudhary and Spencer Johnson claimed one wicket each. Marsh was unfortunately run out at the non-striker’s end.
After being asked to bat first, Chennai posted 187/5 in 20 overs. Kartik Sharma top-scored with 71 off 42 balls, hitting six fours and five sixes.
Shivam Dube remained unbeaten on 32 off 16 balls, while Dewald Brevis made 25, Sanju Samson scored 20, and Ruturaj Gaikwad and Prashant Veer contributed 13 runs each.
For Lucknow, Akash Singh took three wickets, while Mohammed Shami and Shahbaz Ahmed picked up one wicket apiece.
Already eliminated from the tournament, Lucknow’s win has dealt a major blow to Chennai’s playoff hopes.
Lucknow remain at the bottom of the table with 8 points from 12 matches, while Chennai stay fifth with 12 points from 12 games.
