Malaysia qualify for Asia Cup

Nepal slipped by a four-wicket in the last-over thriller against Malaysia in the semi-final of ACC Women’s Premier Cup 2024 on Friday at Bayuemas Oval, Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia, with this win, qualified for the ACC Women’s Asia Cup.

Electing to bat first, Nepal posted tricky 115 runs losing six wickets in 20 overs. Malaysia took it down to the wire and chased it down in 19.5 overs.

Skipper Indu Barma top-scored for the losing side with 37-ball 29 leasing with two boundaries. Dolly Bhatta was smashing it all around before being run out on 25 off 14 balls including two sixes and a four.

Nepal conceded three run-outs and missed numerous chances on the field.

Mahirah Izzati Ismail returned the figure of 2-10 in her four overs.

Elsa Hunter played out the innings of her life to confirm their Asia Cup’s spot. She scored unbeaten 69 off 53 balls hitting six fours.

Sita Rana Magar (2-27) and Kabita Joshi (2-17) picked up two wickets apiece for Nepal.
