Madhesh secures second win in PM Cup

Left-arm pace bowler Bishal Patel starred as Madhesh Province claimed their second victory in the PM Cup cricket tournament by defeating Lumbini Province by 25 runs in Janakpur on Friday. 

Chasing a modest total of 124 runs, Madhesh defended their score successfully, bowling out Lumbini for just 99 runs. 

Sumit Shrestha was Lumbini’s top scorer with 30 runs, while Sandesh Thapa made 16, and captain Dev Khanal and Santosh Yadav contributed 12 runs each. 

Bishal Patel delivered an outstanding bowling performance, taking 5 wickets for only 24 runs in 9 overs. Pradeep Paswan took 2 wickets, and Rupesh Singh, Mohammad Adil Alam, and Ashiq Baitha claimed 1 wicket each. 

Earlier, batting first, Madhesh were all out for 124 in 38.1 overs. Mayan Yadav top-scored with 31 runs, followed by Adil with 23 and Pawan Sarraf with 19. 

For Lumbini, Sandesh Thapa and Santosh Yadav took 3 wickets each, Ajay Chauhan 2, and Nirmal Gurung 1. 

With this win, Madhesh have now won 2 out of 3 matches in the tournament. Their first game against Koshi Province was abandoned due to rain, and they previously defeated Sudurpashchim Province. 

Lumbini have suffered one defeat after their win against Koshi, with their first match against Karnali abandoned due to rain.
