India wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat has announced his retirement from international cricket, more than three years after making his Test debut.

The 32-year-old played seven Tests for India between 2023 and 2024, scoring 221 runs at an average of 20.09, with a highest score of 44.

He was India's wicketkeeper in the ICC World Test Championship Final 2023 against Australia after Rishabh Pant was ruled out through injury.

Bharat made his Test debut during the 2023 Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia after spending several years as a reserve wicketkeeper.

His final international appearance came against England in Visakhapatnam in February 2024 before he was replaced by Dhruv Jurel later in the series.

In a social media post, Bharat said representing India was the greatest honour of his career and thanked his family for their unwavering support throughout his journey.

Born in Visakhapatnam, Bharat enjoyed a successful domestic career with Andhra and became the first wicketkeeper in Ranji Trophy history to score a triple century.

He also expressed gratitude to former India captain Virat Kohli, captain Rohit Sharma and former head coach Rahul Dravid for their support and guidance during his cricketing career.
