Koshi folds in chase as Dinesh Adhikari’s fifer hands Karnali first win

Karnali Province secured their first win of the Men’s PM Cup 2026 with a 15-run victory over Koshi Province in Janakpur on Wednesday, handing Koshi a second straight defeat.

Chasing 151, Koshi were bowled out for 135, extending their record of failing to successfully chase any target above 32 in the tournament.

Opting to bat first, Karnali had a shaky start after losing Rabindra Shahi for a three-ball duck and slipping to 27/3. Bipin Rawal (32) then joined Bipin Shahi to rebuild, putting on a 65-run stand. However, once Rawal fell to 17-year-old left-arm spinner Prem Kamat, Karnali lost momentum and managed just 59 runs for the remaining six wickets.

Bipin Shahi held the innings together with a composed 63 off 98 balls, striking eight boundaries to help Karnali reach a modest total.

Kamat led the Koshi bowling effort with 4/31 from his 10 overs, while Gyanendra Shrestha (3/30), Sujan Thapaliya (2/22) and Bipin Mahato also chipped in with wickets.

In the chase, Koshi were in a promising position at 77/3 before a dramatic collapse saw them lose their final seven wickets for just 58 runs. The innings lacked intent in the middle and lower order, as they fell well short of the target.

Dinesh Adhikari was the difference, ripping through the batting with 5/27 to secure the win for Karnali. Diwan Pun and Prakash Jaisi supported well with two wickets each, while Dipendra Rawat added one.
