Kohli-Padikkal star as RCB beat GT despite Sudharsan century

Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured their fifth win of the IPL 2026 season, thanks to brilliant batting performances from Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal. 

In the match played on Friday night at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, RCB defeated Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets. 

Chasing a target of 206 runs, Bengaluru reached the total with 7 balls to spare, losing 5 wickets. Kohli scored 81 runs off 44 balls, hitting 8 fours and 4 sixes, while Padikkal made 55 runs off 27 balls, including 2 fours and 6 sixes. 

After opener Jacob Bethell was dismissed for 14 with the score at 24-1, Kohli and Padikkal built a crucial 117-run partnership for the second wicket. 

Although RCB slipped from 141-1 to 173-5, Krunal Pandya remained unbeaten on 23 runs to guide the team to victory. Tim David stayed not out on 10, while Jitesh Sharma also contributed 10 runs. 

Earlier, Gujarat Titans, batting first after losing the toss, posted 205/3 in 20 overs, powered by a terrific century from Sai Sudharsan, his third in IPL. 

He scored 100 runs off 58 balls, hitting 11 fours and 5 sixes. Captain Shubman Gill added 32 runs, while Jos Buttler made 25. Jason Holder (23*) and Washington Sundar (19*) remained unbeaten. 

For RCB, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood, and Suyash Sharma picked up one wicket each. 

With this win, RCB move up to second place with 10 points from 7 matches, while Gujarat Titans sit seventh with 6 points from 7 games.
