Ireland Wolves clean sweeps One Day Series with 69-run win

Stephen Doheny knocked off Nepal’s bowlers while Ben White picked a fifer in helping Ireland Wolves clean sweep the One Day series on Sunday at TU International Cricket Ground with a 69-run win.

Doheny scored 129-ball 107 as Ireland Wolves posted a mammoth 284-9 in 50 overs after deciding to bat first. He smashed eight fours and two sixes.

Nepal were 171-2 till the 28th over but later bundled out on 215 in 39.4 overs to finish winless in the series.

Rijan Dhakal provided the first breakthrough for Nepal, sending back James McCollum (09) in the sixth over of the innings. Peter Moor, who shared a 66-run for the second wicket with Doheny, scored 44 off 25 balls hitting two fours and five sixes.

Rijan returned the figures of 3-75 in 10 overs. Ranjit Kumar took three wickets, giving away 51 runs in his 10 overs. Bikash Agri (1-25) and Shahab Alam (1-60) chipped in with a wicket each.

In response, the top order provided Nepal with a chaseable platform but Nepal lost the last eight wickets for just 44 runs. Nepal needed only 114 off 129 balls with eight wickets in hand when Arjun Kumal and Naren Bhatta (15) were batting till the 29th over.

Arjun Kumal slammed fourteen boundaries for his 118-ball 102. His opening partner, Arjun Saud, contributed 36 off 30 including four boundaries and three sixes. They shared a 68-run opening stand.

Ben White picked up five wickets, leaking 62 runs in his 10 overs. Govin Hoey returned the figures of 4-27 in his 7.4 overs.
