Fixtures announced for 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier in Thailand
The schedule for the upcoming 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier has been confirmed. The tournament will take place in Thailand from May 9 to May 20, 2025, featuring nine teams competing for two spots in the Global Qualifiers.
Alongside hosts Thailand, the participating teams include Nepal, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Hong Kong-China, Malaysia, Bhutan, Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait. The top two teams at the end of the tournament will progress to the Global Qualifiers, which are slated for the first quarter of 2026.
The 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will be held in England, with four teams qualifying from the Global Qualifiers. Bangladesh and Scotland have already secured their place in the Global Qualifiers through the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup, while USA booked their ticket via the Americas Qualifier held in March 2025.
The remaining seven places in the Global Qualifiers will be filled as follows:
Two teams from the Asia Qualifier (May 9–20, 2025)
Two teams from the Europe Qualifier (August 20–27, 2025)
One team from the East Asia-Pacific Qualifier (September 9–17, 2025)
Two teams from the Africa Qualifier (dates yet to be announced)
In the Global Qualifier, 10 teams will be divided into two groups. Matches will be played in a round-robin format, and the top two teams from each group will qualify for both the semi-finals and the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
Groupings for the Asia Qualifier:
Group A: Thailand, Kuwait, Bhutan
Group B: UAE, Malaysia, Qatar
Group C: Nepal, Bahrain, Hong Kong-China
The Asia Qualifier will be played in a double round-robin format within each group — meaning each team will play the other two teams in their group twice. The top team from each group will move to the playoff stage, where they will face each other once in a three-team round-robin. The top two teams from that playoff stage will qualify for the Global Qualifiers.
Nepal's Fixtures:
May 9 – vs Hong Kong-China
May 10 – vs Bahrain
May 13 – vs Hong Kong-China
May 15 – vs Bahrain
May 18 – A1 vs B1
May 19 – B1 vs C1
May 20 – A1 vs C1
Nepal, placed in Group C, will start their campaign against Hong Kong-China on May 9. They will face Bahrain the very next day. The return fixtures will be played on May 13 and 15 respectively. If Nepal top their group, they will move into the playoff stage to face winners from Group A and Group B.
