Gulshan star with the bowl after Sheikh brothers with the bat to hand Oman 81 run defeat

Nepal have registered their eighth of the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 and first again Oman in League 2 history on home soil after a 81 run win at the TU International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

Nepal chose to bat first after winning the toss with Aasif Sheikh coming back in the team in for the opening spot moving Arjun Kumal at number 3.

Aasif partnered with Arjun for 123 runs for the second wicket after opener Binod Bhandari fell for a golden duck. Aasif scored 94 runs off 97 balls with five sixes and seven boundaries before falling to left arm spinner Shakeel Ahmed.

Arjun anchored the innings equally well with his patient 87 ball 48 which included four boundaries.

Dipendra Singh Airee (33) and Aarif Sheikh's unbeaten 24 ball 43 with four sixes out of which three came in the 50th over took the score to 256 in 49.5 overs.

For Oman, left arm spinner Shakeel Ahmed (2/43), Nadeem Khan (3/41) jointly shared five wickets while Hasnain Shah picked up two wickets along with Jiten Ramanandi and Artan Bisht chipping in with one each.

Oman were bowled out for 175 runs in the chase in 39.5 overs all thanks to Gulshan Jha's second ODI fifer in his 5/38 from nine overs.

Karan KC, Nandan Yadav, Sandeep Lamichhane and Dipendra Singh Airee also chipped in with a wicket each.

Wicketkeeper batter Vinayak Shukla top scored for Nepal with 41 ball 36 with three boundaries and two sixes rest non batters partnered to give him support in the chase.

Nepal will head into their next League 2 series at home starting next week where they will meet current top two teams from the table Scotland and USA.
