Gulshan leads rout of Gujarat as Nepal registers comprehensive win

Gulshan Jha and Karan KC razed Gujarat for 98 at Vapi’s Sai Meghpan SportsLife Ground, sealing Nepal’s comprehensive eight-wicket win in the first match of the SMS Friendship Cup 2024.

Electing to bowl first, Nepal bundled out Gujarat on 98 runs in 18.2 overs. Nepal only took 15.2 overs to chase down the modest target, losing two wickets.

Karan KC provided Nepal with an early breakthrough, reducing them to 19-1 in three overs. Gulshan came up with back-to-back wickets and lessened the opponent to 44-4 overs in seven overs.

Gulshan returned the figures of 4-22 in four overs. Karan KC picked up three wickets, giving away 22 runs in his 3.2 overs. Sompal Kami also chipped in with a wicket to his name.

Rudra Patel top-scored for the losing side with his 22-ball 23.

Rohit Kumar Paudel scored an unbeaten 36 off 26 balls in the chase for Nepal. Anil Kumar Sah played an equally important role with his 35-ball 32.

Hemang Patel (1-17) and Tejas Patel (1-14) picked up a wicket apiece for Gujarat.

Gujarat will play against Baroda on Monday, while Nepal are scheduled to face Baroda on Tuesday.
