Gujarat thrash Hyderabad to go top of the table
Defending a modest target of 169, Gujarat’s bowlers ripped through Hyderabad’s batting line-up, bundling them out for just 86 runs in a one-sided contest.
Hyderabad never looked in control during the chase, with captain Pat Cummins top-scoring with just 19 runs. Salil Arora made 16, while Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan contributed 14 and 11 respectively.
For Gujarat, Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder starred with three wickets each, while Prasidh Krishna claimed two. Mohammed Siraj and Rashid Khan chipped in with one wicket apiece.
Earlier, after being asked to bat first, Gujarat posted 168 for 5 in their 20 overs. Sai Sudharsan led the charge with 61, while Washington Sundar added a valuable 50.
For Hyderabad, Prafull Hinge and Saqib Hussain took two wickets each, with Cummins picking up one.
The win was Gujarat’s fifth in a row and eighth overall this season, taking them to 16 points from 12 matches and the top of the table.
Hyderabad remain third with 14 points from 12 games.
