Eight teams confirmed for super-eight of T20 world cup 2026

All eight teams for the Super 8 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 have now been confirmed, with Pakistan sealing the final spot after a commanding victory over Namibia on Wednesday. 

Pakistan joined India from Group A in progressing to the next round. From Group B, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe advanced, while England and West Indies moved through from Group C. South Africa and New Zealand secured qualification from Group D. 

The Super 8 line-up is divided into two groups. Group 1 features India, West Indies, South Africa and Zimbabwe. Group 2 consists of England, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. 

In the decisive Group A fixture played in Colombo, Pakistan thrashed Namibia by 102 runs. Chasing a daunting 200-run target, Namibia were bowled out for just 97 in 17.3 overs. 

Nepal also exited the tournament after recording one win and three defeats. With their progression to the Super 8, the eight qualified teams have also secured automatic qualification for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028. 

Meanwhile, hosts Australia and New Zealand had already qualified automatically for the 2028 edition. 

Ireland and Bangladesh booked their places based on their ICC rankings.
