CWC League 2: Dubai leg continues to haunt Nepal as USA seal four-wicket win
After being asked to bat, Nepal posted 271 before being bowled out in the final over.
Dipendra Singh Airee top-scored with a fluent 75 off 67 balls, striking three sixes and two fours, while Karan KC provided late fireworks with 49 off 31 deliveries to lift the total past 270.
Once again, Nepal’s top order got starts but failed to convert. Kushal Bhurtel (47), Bhim Sharki (43), and skipper Rohit Paudel (36) all fell to left-arm spinner Harmeet Singh after looking well set.
Harmeet finished with 3 for 33 from his 10 overs, while Saurabh Netravalkar and Nosthush Kenjige picked up two wickets apiece.
In reply, USA rode on a decisive 123-run stand between Saiteja Mukkamalla (75) and Milind Kumar (70) for the fourth wicket to turn the chase in their favour.
Player of the Match Harmeet Singh then sealed the win with two sixes in the 49th over off Nandan Yadav. Nepal’s fielding lapses also proved costly, with two dropped catches aiding the USA chase.
Sandeep Lamichhane was the pick of the bowlers for Nepal, finishing with 3 for 53, while Yadav, Karan KC, and Gulshan Jha shared one wicket each.
Nepal will face UAE next on Wednesday, looking to end their Dubai campaign on a positive note.
