Clinical New Zealand beat Nepal in their opening encounter of Under-19 World Cup 2024

New Zealand rode on Snehith Reddy’s century to beat Nepal by 64 runs at the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup 2024 on Sunday.

Electing to bat first, New Zealand were reeling at 67 for 3 in the 15th over before Reddy stitched a 157-run partnership with the skipper Oscar Jackson. Nepal kept losing wickets at regular intervals to hand the Kiwis a comprehensive win. The losing side only scored 238 runs, losing nine wickets in 50 overs.

Reddy slammed an unbeaten 125-ball 147 comprising 11 fours and six hits over the fence. Jackson scored 75 off 81 balls involving five sixes and three fours.

Subash Bhandari sent three Kiwi batsmen back into the hut and returned the bowling figure of 3-60 in his 10 overs. Gulshan Jha accounted for two wickets in his 10 overs, giving away 61 runs.

Arjun Kumar put in an excellent effort with 90 runs off 104 lacing with 12 boundaries. The skipper Dev Khanal is second on the scoreboard for the losing side with 34-ball 36 involving five fours and a six.

Subash Bhandari went partnerless with 33 runs to his name.

Mason Clarke picked three wickets, expensing 25 runs in his 8 overs. Ewald Schreuder (2-54) and Jackon (2-25) picked two wickets apiece.
