CAN lifts ban on Mohammad Aadil Alam
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) have officially lifted the ban imposed on all-rounder Mohammad Aadil Alam, making him eligible once again to participate in national and international cricket tournaments.
Aadil was previously accused of involvement in spot-fixing during the inaugural edition of the Nepal T20 League, held from December 4, 2022, to January 11, 2023, at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
While representing Janakpur Royals in the tournament, Aadil came under scrutiny after his bowling raised suspicions in Match 8 and Match 12—against Kathmandu Knights and Far West United, respectively. In both matches, he delivered a waist-high no-ball followed immediately by a wide, in the 12th over against Kathmandu and the 6th over against Far West. These identical patterns sparked concerns about potential spot-fixing.
In March 2024, the Kathmandu District Court cleared Aadil and four other players of all spot-fixing allegations due to lack of sufficient evidence. However,CAN-imposed ban as per its Anti-Corruption Code, which continued to sideline the all-rounder from national and international selections.
After reviewing the case and completing necessary procedures, the CAN Integrity Committee decided to lift the ban on March 4, 2025. With this decision, Mohammad Aadil Alam is now officially eligible to return to competitive cricket at all levels.
