Batting collapse hands Nepal 'A' consecutive defeat in All India Gold Cup
Nepal 'A' suffered their second consecutive defeat in the All India Gold Cup in Dehradun after going down to Goa by three wickets in a rain-reduced 34-over contest.
Asked to bat first, Nepal 'A' were cruising at 149 without loss before collapsing to 210 for 9 from their allotted 34 overs.
Opener Trit Raj Das starred with a brilliant 104 off 86 deliveries, striking three sixes and nine boundaries. Arjun Kumal continued his good form with a composed 57 off 53 balls, including six boundaries, as the pair added 149 runs for the opening wicket.
However, Nepal's middle and lower order failed to capitalise on the platform, losing nine wickets for just 61 runs.
Right-arm pacer Deepak Gaonkar was the chief destroyer for Goa with six wickets, while Koushik and Lalit Yadav claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Goa completed the chase with two balls to spare, reaching the target in 33.4 overs.
Opener Veer Yadav led the chase with a gritty 80 off 91 balls, featuring four boundaries and four sixes.
For Nepal 'A', leg-spinner Yuvraj Khatri returned 2 for 32 from seven overs. Hemant Dhami, Pawan Sarraf, Lalit Rajbanshi, Dev Khanal and Basir Ahmad picked up a wicket each.
The defeat leaves Nepal 'A' searching for their first win of the tournament heading into their final league-stage fixture against Bhopal.
