Madhesh Province climbed to third in the PM Cup points table with an 18-run DLS win over Gandaki in a rain-hit contest in Birgunj, handing Gandaki a fourth straight defeat.

Put in to bat, Madhesh were under early pressure at 101 for 6 in 21 overs when rain interrupted play. After the restart, Bishal Sushling added an unbeaten 40 off 49 balls, striking three fours and a six, to guide the innings to 172 for 6 in 34.5 overs, setting Gandaki a revised target of 154 in 22 overs.

Gandaki had earlier done well to keep things in check before the break, with left-arm spinner Aprajit Paudel leading the effort, returning 3 for 26 from his seven overs. Kamal Pariyar, Ankit Neupane and Subash chipped in with a wicket each.

After play resumed, Subash Bhandari struck twice more to finish with 3 for 26, while Cirbin Shrestha and Sandesh Panthi also took a wicket each as Madhesh were bowled out for 172.

In the chase, Arjun Kumal stood tall with an unbeaten 49 off 65 balls, hitting six fours, but lacked support from the other end. Gandaki could only reach 80 for 5 in their 22 overs, falling 18 runs short of the revised target.

For Madhesh, Bishal Patel, Ranjit Kumar, Aashik Baitha and Aadil Alam shared the wickets to seal the win.
