All-round display from Dipendra Singh Airee helps Nepal edge over UAE
Nepal secured their sixth win in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 with a 37-run victory over UAE at the TU International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
Asked to bat first, Nepal were bowled out for 200 in 48.2 overs before dismissing UAE for 163 in reply.
Nepal made a shaky start to the innings and lost half their side for just 90 before Dipendra Singh Airee rebuilt alongside Aarif Sheikh.
Dipendra top-scored with 75 off 90 balls, striking five boundaries and two sixes. Basir Ahmad (20), Aarif Sheikh (15), Sompal Kami (15) and Karan KC (22) made useful contributions to push Nepal to 200.
For UAE, debutant Ajay Kumar returned 3 for 34, while Khuzaima Bin Tanvir picked up 2 for 41. Junaid Siddique also claimed three wickets for 33 runs, while Haider Ali and Muhammad Shahzad took one each.
Chasing 201, UAE were bowled out for 163 after a disciplined bowling display from Nepal.
Medium pacer Karan KC led the attack with 4 for 19 from 9.2 overs. Sandeep Lamichhane (2 for 25) and Sompal Kami (2 for 50) shared four wickets between them, while Lalit Rajbanshi and Dipendra Singh Airee picked up one each.
Harpreet Bhatia top-scored for UAE with 39 off 52 balls, while Akshdeep Nath made 30 and captain Muhammad Waseem scored 34, but none were able to convert their starts.
