Aarif stages quick comeback for West Indies ‘A’ Series

Aarif Sheikh forged a quick comeback into the senior national team for the upcoming five-match Twenty20 Series against West Indies ‘A’ that begins from Saturday at the TU grounds.

Aarif had missed out on the ACC Premier Cup that was recently concluded in Oman. Nepal finished fourth in the ACC Premier Cup losing the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup to Hong Kong in the third place playoff.

West Indies ‘A’ are playing their first ever cricket tournament in Nepali spoil and have already announced a strong squad that includes nine capped players.

The team to be led by Roston Chase includes the likes of Johnson Charles, Andre Fletcher, Fabian Allen, Keemo Paul, Oshane Thomas and Hayden Walsh.

The Nepali team is almost unchanged from the one that played in Oman. Aarif is the only addition in that 14-man squad.

Relegated to the Nepal ‘A’ side, Aarif had made 93 not out, 14 and 49 runs against Ireland ‘A’ in the Twenty20 Series that concluded at the TU grounds on March 31.

Aarif last played for the senior side against Papua New Guinea in a Tri-Series Tournament that also included Hong Kong.
