Nepal Police Club clinch PM Cup title with triumph over Army
Nepal Police Club defeated Tribhuwan Army Club by 6 wickets at TU International Cricket Ground on Saturday to clinch the title of the PM Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament 2080.
Opting to field first, Nepal Police Club restricted Tribhuwan Army Club to 181 runs in 49.5 overs. The Army was falling apart as they lost seven wickets for 69 runs, with Sompal Kami, Bibek Yadav, and Jitendra Mukhiya playing recovery roles in the later half. Bibek added 59 runs for the 8th wicket with Sompal followed by 43 with Jitendra for the last wicket. The Policemen chased the target convincingly within the 38th over.
Bibek top-scored with 81-ball 63 including 7 fours and a six. Sompal Kami (38), Imran Sheikh (28), and Kushal Malla (17) were the other notable contributors.
Lalit Rajbanshi and Dipendra Singh Airee, picked up 3 wickets apiece, conceding 21 and 31 runs respectively.
Shankar Rana led the chase for Nepal Police Club with an unbeaten 62 runs from 43 balls, which included 5 boundaries and 4 hits over the fence. A 59-run partnership for the 3rd wicket between Arjun Saud and Amit Shrestha put Police Club in a comfortable position. Arjun Saud (36), Amit Shrestha (28), Aarif Sheikh (27), and Kushal Bhurtel (14) were the other contributors to Police’s successful chase.
Basir Ahamad, Kushal Malla, Shahab Alam, and Jitendra Mukhiya picked up a wicket each for the losing side.
