Punjab suffer fifth straight defeat as Tilak stars in final over thriller
Chasing a target of 201, Mumbai reached 202/4 with one ball remaining. Along with Tilak’s match-winning knock, Ryan Rickelton scored 48, while Rohit Sharma and Will Jacks added 25 runs each.
For Punjab, Azmatullah Omarzai took two wickets, while Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal claimed one each.
Earlier, after being asked to bat first, Punjab posted 200/8 in 20 overs. Opener Prabhsimran Singh top-scored with 57 runs. Despite a middle-order collapse, Punjab’s lower-order batters provided a late boost.
Azmatullah Omarzai smashed 38 off 17 balls, while Vishnu Vinod (15 off 8) and Xavier Bartlett (18 off 7) remained unbeaten. Priyansh Arya also contributed 22 runs at the top.
For Mumbai, Shardul Thakur starred with four wickets, while Deepak Chahar took two. Corbin Bosch and Raj Bawa picked up one wicket each.
Although already out of playoff contention, Mumbai now have 8 points from 12 matches.
Punjab remain fifth on the table with 13 points from 12 games after their fifth consecutive loss.
