Delhi beat Punjab to stay alive in playoffs race
Chasing a target of 211, Delhi completed the chase at 216/7 with one over to spare in a thrilling contest. Captain Axar Patel played a match-winning knock of 56, anchoring the innings after Delhi had lost three wickets inside the powerplay.
David Miller provided vital support with 51, while Ashutosh Sharma chipped in with 24 runs.
Delhi needed 36 runs from the final three overs, but their batters held their nerve brilliantly- collecting 19 runs in the 18th over before finishing the chase in the 19th.
Earlier, after being put into bat, Punjab posted a strong 210/5 from their 20 overs. Captain Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 59, while opener Priyansh Arya scored 56.
Cooper Connolly added 38, helping Punjab cross the 200-run mark. For Delhi, Mitchell Starc and Madhav Tiwari claimed two wickets each.
The victory moves Delhi up to seventh place with 10 points from 12 matches, keeping their playoff hopes alive.
Punjab, meanwhile, remain fourth with 13 points from 11 games despite their losing streak.
